50 CENT SAIDS HOLLYWOOD HAS DOUBLE STANDARD

50 Cent is accusing Hollywood of double standards after seeing the new James Bond holding a gun in posters for Casino Royale - a year after billboards of him sporting a weapon caused a furore.
The rapper is appalled by the fact no one has raised a fuss about Daniel Craig 's gun-toting posters when he was castigated for posing with a weapon in billboards for movie Get Rich Or Die Tryin'.
He says, "Get Rich Or Die Tryin' comes out and they want to protest because they see a gun in my hand but James Bond comes out or Mr & Mrs Smith will come out with guns and it's acceptable. You can see any kind of gun there is to see on the covers of films. You cango in Blockbuster and see every gun that was ever made."
The rap star calls for one universal ruling about weapons in movie posters - and he'll accept whatever the Hollywood film police decide. He adds, "Let's not start with 50 Cent and stop with 50 Cent. Let's do it everywhere else and make it unacceptable period. I would gladly join the rest of entertainment if we get there."

What do you think? I think 50 Cent has a point. His billboard is about the same as the other movies. He is not choking or even shooting anybody. I agree we need an universal policy for guns. Guns are the are same nobody if somebody black or white is holding it.

Young music fans who personalize their cell phones with a choice of ring tones can go the extra step and have multiplatinum rapper Chingy announcing each of their friends when they call.
Chingy, who's signed to EMI Group's Capitol Records, has recorded more than 100 versions of his Dem Jeans single using a different popular girls' name each time.
The 26-year-old hip hop artist from St. Louis, Mont., who has released three albums since 2003, replaced the word "girl" in the chorus line "damn girl, how'd you get in dem jeans?" for each version.
Capitol teamed with wireless operator Sprint Nextel to offer the service to its subscribers.
More artists and their record labels are working with wireless companies to reach out to fans.
In September, Grammy-winning R&B artist John Legend teamed with Verizon Wireless to promote his album Once Again with two 30-second clips of his songs provided to subscribers who then voted on which should be released as his next single.
Ring tones are a growing and important part of the future of U.S. wireless mobile entertainment sector and for record companies. Analysts eMarketer forecast that sector will grow from about $1.1 billion this year to $15 billion in 2010.

AWARD WINNING AUTHOR BEBE MOORE CAMPBELL LOSES THE FIGHT TO BRAIN CANCER

Bebe Moore Campbell, whose many best sellers such as "Brothers and Sisters" touched on America's ethnic and social divides, died Monday. She was 56.
Campbell died at home in Los Angeles from complications due to brain cancer, said publicist Linda Wharton-Boyd. She was diagnosed with the disease in February.
"My wife was a phenomenal woman who did it her way," husband Ellis Gordon Jr. said in a statement. "She loved her family and her career as a writer."
Her books, largely fiction and based on real-life stories, included the perspective of many ethnic groups.

Campbell is survived by her husband; a son, Ellis Gordon III; a daughter, Maia Campbell; her mother, Doris Moore; and two grandchildren.

MICHAEL BAISDEN WHERE YOU AT???

One of the intriguing minidramas of radio lately has been the whereabouts of Michael Baisden, the afternoon host on WRKS (98.7 FM).
Baisden has never been very elusive. He's a motivational speaker who carved out a successful career as a syndicated radio host, and his goal has never been to have a low profile.
He's written books, still gives lectures and is heard on 25 to 30 radio stations with the show he demurely titled "Love, Lust and Lies."
Baisden takes what he calls "honest and realistic" stances on issues like cheating, but has equally strong opinions on, say, food. (Hint: Don't smother a good piece of meat with unremarkable condiments.)
But his opinions have been missing the last couple of weeks. Mo'Nique has been sitting in for him, and it's not clear when he will return.
The Detroit press says he's been off his affiliate there because he's "ailing," but he was in Richmond, Va., last Thursday for a "Baisden Bash," a listener party.
Baisden in the past has made remarks on the air suggesting his show might be in jeopardy, usually with a hint that some consider him too outspoken.
Of course, he's also never denied being a showman with a flair for the dramatic.
Early this week, a memo circulated on urbaninsite.com that was purportedly from Baisden's staff. It said, in part:

"Dear Family,
Michael wanted to let everyone know that he may still be out this week until further notice. ... Michael misses you all and thanks you for all the love and support. He can't wait to get back so he can shut the whole country down!"

WRKS, which loves Baisden's ratings, could not be reached yesterday. Offices were closed.

PRINCES WANT BEYONCE TO PARTICIPATE ON PRINCESS DIANA MEMORIAL CONCERT

Princes William and Harry plan to mark the 10th anniversary of their mother Princess Diana's death with a pop concert at the new Wembley Stadium in London, newspapers reported on Sunday.
The event, to be hosted by the princes, would be held on July 1, which would have been Diana's 46th birthday.
Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper reported the concert would be a Live Aid-style event, to raise funds for a variety of charities.
The A-list event is expected to draw more than 90,000 people and will include both local and international artists.
Elton John is rumoured to be closing the event, performing his chart-topping tribute to Diana, Candle in the Wind.
Other celebrities who are being asked to take part include Beyonce, George Michael and Kylie Minogue, according to The Times.

German supermodel Heidi Klum gave birth to her second child with husband, British pop singer Seal, she announced on her website.
Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel was born in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon, the announcement said.
"He is healthy, beautiful and looks just like his mother," the singer, born Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adelo Samuel, said in a note on the website, adding that the newborn was a "blessing" to their family.
Klum, 33, who gained newfound popularity in the United States with her runaway-hit fashion reality show "Project Runway," married the London-born Seal, 43, in May 2005, the same year the couple's first son, Henry Gunther Ademola Dashtu Samuel, was born.
The supermodel also has a daughter, Leni, from a previous relationship with Flavio Briattore, who heads up the Renault Formula 1 team.

CBS DEFENDS JANET'S WARDROBE MALFUNCTION.

Lawyers for CBS Corp. argued Monday that singer Janet Jackson's breast-baring at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2004 was unintended, took place without the knowledge of the network, and should not be considered indecent.

CBS is suing the Federal Communications Commission in the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia, challenging a US$550,000 fine issued by the agency over the stunt, which created a national furor.
In a court brief, CBS argued that the FCC had "failed to turn up even a shred of evidence suggesting that anyone at CBS participated" in the so-called "wardrobe malfunction," and that the commission had abandoned its long-standing approach that "fleeting, isolated or unintended" images should not automatically be considered indecent. In response, the FCC released a statement charging that the network "continues to ignore the voices of millions of Americans, Congress and the commission by arguing that Janet Jackson's halftime performance was not indecent ... we continue to believe they are wrong."

Beyonce's record company, Columbia Records, is about to hold open casting calls for dancers to go on tour with her. They don't just want "good" dancers, they're looking for "the hottest and best dancers on the planet."

Open auditions will be held in Los Angeles on Dec. 6-7, followed by Atlanta on Dec. 9. Auditions continue Jan. 6 in Houston, the 11th and 12th in New York, wrapping up Jan. 27 in Chicago.

BOBBY VALENTINO GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

Disturbing Tha Peace soul singer Bobby Valentino has adopted 15 senior citizens and their families in Atlanta this holiday season, and will personally deliver vegetable baskets and turkeys to them on December 1.
Valentino, a native of Atlanta, will deliver the holiday food to the Harriet E. Darnell Multi-Purpose Center for the 15 seniors. The selected citizens are all community gardeners for the Atlanta Urban Gardening Program (AUGP) led by Valentino's father, Bobby Wilson.
According to a press release, Valentino volunteered as a kid to the AUGP, where he taught youth and senior citizens how to grow vegetables and clean vacant lots for garden sites.
Bobby V's sophomore solo album, Special Occasion, is due in stores February 13, and features production from Rodney Jerkins, Sean Garrett, Tim & Bob, Bryan Cox and more.

The Snoop Dogg line of pet products will be available for pre-sale on Amazon.com on November 21, which will coincide with the release of his next album, The Blue Carpet Treatment. Other retailers will begin selling the products next spring.

I said I don’t even think I want urban kids up on my s**t that much anymore, let alone Z100. My records, I put them out there and wherever they go, they go. THE GAME ARRESTED FOR IMPERSONATING A POLICE OFFICER

The rapper known as The Game has been arrested for allegedly impersonating an undercover police officer, authorities said.
At around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Jayceon Taylor, the hip-hop star known to his fans as The Game, flagged down a Lincoln Town Car at 56th Street and 7th Avenue, police said.
The driver of the taxi, Muhammed Butt, said that The Game claimed to be an undercover policeman and told him to race through several traffic lights on Lexington Avenue, police said.
Police officers pulled over the taxi at 43rd Street and 6th Avenue for driving erratically, at which point the driver told them that his passenger was an undercover officer. After running a check, the officers found that that was not the case.

R&B PIONEER RUTH BROWN DIES AT 78

Pioneering rhythm and blues singer Ruth Brown, known as "the girl with a tear in her voice" for emotion-laden singing, died on Friday at age 78 after a stroke and heart attack in Las Vegas, friends said.
Brown was the best selling black female artist of the early 1950s with songs including "(Mama) He Treats Your Daughter Mean," "So Long," "Teardrops From My Eyes," "Oh, What a Dream," and "Mambo Lips."
Her hits for Atlantic Records were so huge that record company became known as "The House that Ruth Built."
But her work with Atlantic Records ended in 1961 as her gutsy, belting style fell out of favor.
Her career faded in the 1960s and she was reduced to taking menial jobs, including that of a maid, until a revival of her work in 1970s. In later years she hosted her own National Public Radio show, "The Harlem Hit Parade," on the great black blues and R&B singers of the 1940s, 50s and 60s and won a Tony award for her work in the musical revue "Black and Blue."
When she left Atlantic, the company said she owed them $30,000. When her career revived, she led a battle for artists to receive royalties from record companies.
Besides being known as "The Girl with a Tear in her Voice," she was also called "The Original Queen of Rhythm & Blues," "Miss Rhythm & Blues," and "Miss Rhythm," a nickname given to her by Frankie Lane,
When she revived her career, she starred in Allen Toussaint's off-Broadway musical "Staggerlee" and appeared in John Waters' film "Hairspray" as Motormouth Maybelle.

Rumor has it The Price of Fame will be your last album. Is this true?

BOW WOW: I don’t want to say I’m retiring. I call it stepping back. I know people will still focus on Bow Wow regardless, which I want them to do. By me having a label deal now is a whole other job. Now Sony’s gonna be on me to make sure that my artists’ records are in on time. I’ve gotta do all of this stuff that I’ve been watching Jermaine do for so long. In order to do that, I’ve gotta make sure I give my artists the time that they need with me. I just want to watch them go through everything I did.

Do you find it hard to date with your previous relationship in the spotlight?

BOW WOW: Just coming out of a relationship a couple of months ago is still kind of new, like a wound that hasn’t healed already. I’m still kind of scarred from that, so right now I’m really not even focusing on getting back into another relationship. If I were to get back into another relationship in the state of mind that I’m in, it would be back with [Ciara]. I’m not out here running around focusing on dating at all whatsoever. So of course if that were the case, I’d rather be back with the one I was with. I’m not really pressing it too much. When you try and find the one, it’s harder.

What would you say is the biggest misconception about Bow Wow?

BOW WOW: That I’m cocky. I can be arrogant at times [laughs], but a lot of people won’t admit that. I think there is a difference. Cocky is like, “I’m the boss. I run you.” Being cocky is like a swagger, flyboy type of thing. I don’t mean no harm by it. A lot of the best are arrogant. Like Puff; Puff’s got that flyboy type of swagger.

Whitney Houston's New Jersey mansion is slated to be sold at a sheriff's sale because she is more than $1 million behind on the mortgage and taxes have not been paid this year, according to reports published Wednesday.
The January 4 sale was scheduled Tuesday by the Morris County Sheriff's Office, the Daily Record of Parsippany reported. The service agent for Chevy Chase Bank, the mortgage holder, sued Houston in June.
Houston's estate comprises two lots, and the sale would be of the lot assessed at $889,300. The adjacent lot is valued at more than $5.6 million, the Daily Record reported. Houston, 43, bought the properties in 1987 for $2.7 million.
Through a secretary, Houston publicist Nancy Seltzer told the newspaper the property was not in foreclosure. A woman who answered the telephone at Seltzer's office on Wednesday said Seltzer was traveling and could not be reached for comment.

Naomi Campbell might be spending more time in courtrooms than on catwalks these days.
The supermodel was due in a New York court Wednesday to face charges of assaulting a housekeeper one in a series of former employees who have said the supermodel is striking in more ways than one.
The latest allegation came just Tuesday, when former maid Gaby Gibson sued Campbell for the second time.
Gibson says the 35-year-old model hit her, called her names and threatened to charge her with theft after being unable to find a pair of Stella McCartney jeans.
Campbell's court date Wednesday stems from a similar accusation: She was unable to find a pair of jeans and allegedly blamed the maid.
In that incident, Campbell was accused of hitting Ana Scolavino with a cell phone in the model's Manhattan apartment after saying she stole the missing jeans. Scolavino was treated for a head injury.

Campbell, who is from London, faces up to seven years in prison and deportation if convicted in that case. Her lawyer, David Breitbart, has said a plea deal was possible, but he did not say what it might entail.
In Campbell's latest legal woes, Gibson's new lawsuit says "Campbell either kicked or punched the back of Gibson's head ... while yelling discriminatory comments" as the maid searched the closet for the model's jeans.
Gibson worked for Campbell from November 2005 through January 2006. Her court papers call Campbell a "violent super-bigot" who disparaged her maid by saying, "You are not in the Third World any more, stupid," and "Romanians are not usually as dumb as you."
Breitbart denied Gibson's claims.

The memorial will be the first on Washington, D.C.'s National Mall, honoring a nonpresident and recognizing the civil rights movement.
However, the road to the groundbreaking has not been smooth as the memorial has been in planning and fundraising stages for more than 20 years.
"We faced some challenges," said Harry Johnson, president of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation.
"9/11 was a challenge when we began our fundraising campaigning in earnest. The [2004] tsunami [in Thailand] was a challenge. Hurricane Katrina was a challenge, so you're fighting for dollars. Money in everybody's pocket — that's the only thing that can keep us from getting there," Johnson said.

The project has raised $63 million to date, but still needs $37 million more for the memorial be completed.
Continued support from people like former President Clinton, who in 1996 signed a law to protect the land on which the memorial is to be built; Oprah Winfrey; and hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons could endure the memorial completion.

GERALD LEVERT DIES AT THE AGE OF 40

Sources confirmed to The BV Newswire that Gerald Levert is dead of an apparent heart attack.
Immediate details on the death of the beloved R&B crooner were not known at press time.
He turned 40 years old in July.
One of several from the musical Levert family --his father, Eddie Levert, is the lead singer of the legendary soul group The O'Jays -- he was a founding member and the lead singer of the 1990's R&B trio LeVert, who scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123."
Levert, born in Cleveland, Ohio, was also apart of R&B supergroup LSG, comprised of platinum selling R&B crooners Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill.
As a solo artist, Levert garnered a cult following with a string of R&B ballads ("I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got That Love") from his numerous album projects on East West/Elektra Records.
Over the years, the vocal powerhouse has collaborated with Patti LaBelle, Miki Howard, Kelly Price, Teena Marie, Chris Rock and with his father on many different occasions.

Shar Jackson, the mother of two of Kevin Federline's children, says the media should stop ridiculing the aspiring rapper, who with his break-up from Britney Spears appears to have an even bigger punch-line target on his back.
"He's such a nice guy," the 30-year-old actress tells "Inside Edition" in an interview that was to air Thursday. "He's made some mistakes but everybody else doesn't have the whole world pointing their finger at their mistakes."
Jackson and Federline, 28, are the parents of a 4-year-old girl, Kori, and a 2-year-old boy, Kaleb. They dated before he became involved with Spears, whom he married in 2004, while Jackson was pregnant.

Jackson, who starred in TV's "Moesha" in the late `90s, says Federline does not pay child support to her. But, she adds, "He does pay for their school, and they go to a very expensive private school."

60 minutes Ed Bradley dies at 65

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Ed Bradley, the longtime "60 Minutes" correspondent who reported on subjects ranging from jazz musicians to the Columbine school shootings, has died. He was 65.
Bradley died Thursday at New York's Mount Sinai Hospital of leukemia, according to staff members at the CBS program.
Bradley joined "60 Minutes" during the 1981-82 season after two years as White House correspondent for CBS News and three years at "CBS Reports." His reporting over the years won him a Peabody Award, 19 Emmys and a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, among many others.
CNN's David Fitzpatrick, a former CBS producer who worked with Bradley, said there were tears in the halls of CBS News after word of his passing.
"He was gracious," Fitzpatrick said. "He would always have a smile."
Bradley is survived by his wife, Patricia Blanchet.

He should just be the baby daddy and let her go. If he serious, then he should get some professional help to speed this process along. Kim and Diddy should go to counseling together. It is a diservice to Kim to be stringing her along and talking about he being the best boyfriend that he can be and really all he plans to be in the first place is a Boyfriend.

So Im supporting him being honest about him not being ready. Im not in support if he is stringing her along. Im not in support of someone marrying someone in front of God for just the kids. That is still not a healthy environment for the kids.

The country music superstar says she was just joking when cameras showed her screaming "WHAT?" in apparent anger when she lost the female vocalist of the year award to newcomer Carrie Underwood at the Country Music Association Awards ceremony Monday night in Nashville.

"The idea that I would act disrespectful towards a fellow musician is unimaginable to me," Hill said in a statement. "For this to become a focus of attention given the talent gathered is utterly ridiculous. Carrie is a talented and deserving Female Vocalist of The Year."

CNN has confirmed that the pop singer, known for hits such as "Oops ... I Did It Again" and "Toxic," is divorcing her husband of two years and one month. Spears and Federline, one of the singer's former backup dancers, married October 6, 2004, according to the divorce papers.
TMZ.com reports that Spears filed legal papers Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing "irreconcilable differences." Spears is asking for legal and physical custody of their two children, 1-year-old Sean Preston and 2-month-old Jayden James.
The date of separation was listed as Monday.

Dear Kanye,

We love you. We’re your hometown fans. We get that you have to have vision and determination to make it to the top in the music industry. We understand the ego that goes with great talent. But, it’s time for a carefrontation.

There was your issue with losing the American Music Awards' Best New Artist category to Gretchen Wilson. We thought it was a little bit odd to threaten the Grammy voters right after you dissed President Bush during the Katrina Telethon, but we agree that issues of class and race do need to be discussed in America. We sympathized with your sound problems during Lollapalooza. It can be stressful performing in front of the hometown crowd at a big concert event like that. Especially when Mom is watching her baby boy perform to thousands.
But, honestly, this has got to stop. You’re beginning to bite the hand that feeds you. You got the Best Hip Hop Artist award at the MTV Europe Awards, but Best Video went to Justice and Simian for “We Are Your Friends.” Now, protocol in this situation calls for you to sit back, smile, and golf clap while looking into the camera. You should not rush the stage and start swearing like a crazy man and saying that the awards show now has no credibility. Voters don’t like that kind of thing. (Ask anyone on the street who has been subjected to the advertising going on for the midterm elections.)

Kanye, please take a deep breath the next time they don’t call your name for an award, no matter how expensive the video was to make or who is in it with you, and smile. It might be time for a little vacation in order to regroup and remember why you are doing this in the first place. It’s not the awards. It’s to let your talent shine. Don’t hide your talent behind all these fighting words, Kanye. It makes the talent harder to hear.
