RODNEY KING GRAZED BY BULLETS...
Rodney King, whose 1991 police beating sparked widespread rioting in Los Angeles and other U.S. cities, was recovering Thursday after being slightly wounded by gunfire.
Rialto, California, Police Department Sgt. Don Lewis said King was grazed on his face, arms, back and torso. The wounds were superficial. A shotgun was believed to have been the weapon used.
Lewis said that after King was shot Wednesday night, he rode his bicycle from San Bernardino to his home in Rialto, before calling police about 11:40 p.m.
Information on possible suspects or the hospital where King was treated were not immediately available.

America's Next Top Model" viewers will see a new face on the judging panel for the reality competition's next installment.
Supermodel Paulina Porizkova has joined the CW series as a judge for Cycle 10, replacing Twiggy, who is departing the series because of scheduling conflicts.
On the judging panel, Porizkova joins Tyra Banks, the show's creator/executive producer/star, runway expert J. Alexander and fashion photographer Nigel Barker, along with special guest judges. Cycle 10 is targeted to premiere in late February or early March.

FOXY OUT OF SOLITARY CONFINEMENT
Jailed rapper Foxy Brown, who was sentenced to "punitive segregation" after committing three violations at Rikers Island prison, was released from solitary confinement this week for good behavior. Brown, born Inga Marchand, was supposed to do 76 days in the unit but served only 40. She was sentenced to the punitive segregation in October after three violations involving physical altercations.
According to reports, Brown, along with four other female inmates at the Rose M. Singer facility, where the Brooklyn MC has been jailed since August 22, were given early release.
"Foxy is out and her spirits never wavered," Brown's manager, Chaz Williams, told Billboard.com.

KANYE WEST AND EVEL KNIEVEL WORK LAWSUIT OUT
A lawsuit filed by motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel against rapper Kanye West over the use of Knievel’s trademarked image in the 2006 West video for the song “Touch the Sky” has been settled “amicably,” it was announced Tuesday. Iconic motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel took offense with Kanye West’s video for “Touch the Sky,” a single off his second album, “Late Registration,” and filed a lawsuit against the rapper, his record company, Roc-A-Fella, video director Chris Milk and distributor AOL in December 2006, for trademark infringement.
It was announced Tuesday that the bitter lawsuit, which saw Knievel seek an injunction to bar the video from further distribution and request unspecified monetary damages, had been resolved amicably. The two men reportedly met recently at Knievel’s Clearwater condo and the stuntman was surprised to discover in Kanye a pleasant person, reports the Associated Press.
“I thought he was a wonderful guy and quite a gentleman,” Knievel said. He
added, “I know he's had some tough times the past few weeks, and I hope things
work out,”
referring to the sudden death of Kanye’s mother, Donda West, earlier this month.

OPRAH MEETS WITH PARENTS OF ABUSED CHILD
Oprah Winfrey has met with the family of the first student to complain of abuse at her elite school for disadvantaged South African girls, and invited the girl to return to the academy.
People magazine quoted the father of the girl as saying they met for two hours with Winfrey on Sunday at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. He said it was their first meeting since they had withdrawn their daughter from the school after staff ignored her complaints.
A spokeswoman for Winfrey, Angela de Paul, confirmed the meeting and its purpose. The school had been heavily guarded over the weekend.
A dormitory matron, who has been accused of indecent assault and criminal injury against six students ages 13-15 and a 23-year-old fellow dormitory matron, is to be charged in court next month. She has said she is innocent.
Last month, Winfrey said school officials tried to hide the facts from her. She said she would not be renewing the contract of the suspended headmistress, who denies she knew about the abuse, and indicated other staff also would be dismissed.
People magazine quoted the pupil's father, whom it did not name, as saying the meeting was very emotional.
He said he was very happy that Winfrey had invited his daughter to return to the school to complete eighth grade and invited the family to an end-of-year party this week.

Rapper Bryan "Birdman" Williams was among 16 people charged with possession of marijuana Tuesday after the RV they were riding in was pulled over by police for making an improper lane change.
Kingsport Police Cpl. Tim Horne said he stopped the vehicle after seeing it force a tractor trailer into the emergency lane on Interstate 81.
Horne said he could smell marijuana from inside the rented RV and located about a pound of marijuana in a trash can in the kitchenette after obtaining consent to search the vehicle.
Williams, 38, his wife Brittany, 18, and his brother, Ronald Williams, 43, were each charged with possession of more than 1/2 ounce of marijuana as were 13 others, several of whom are also affiliated with the rap industry and Cash Money Records, which was founded by Bryan and Ronald Williams.
Among those arrested were road manager Shahid Muhammad, 40, Cash Money Records promoter Casey Collins, 42, and music promoter Ovide Antoine, 32, of Miami, Fla.
All 16 remained jailed late Tuesday night. It was not known if any of them had an attorney.

Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor died early Tuesday, a day after the Pro Bowl player was shot at home by what police say was an intruder. He was 24.

It was a moment tailor-made for live television: The plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye West's mother agrees to talk to Larry King but then walks off the set almost as soon as the interview starts.
The bizarre turn of events had even CNN's King scratching his head. In his 50-plus years in broadcasting, King has never had a guest agree to appear but then disappear while still on the air.
"It was as crazy a night as you can imagine," King said Wednesday from New York. "I have seen it all now."
The interview-that-never-was almost didn't even begin. As showtime arrived Tuesday night, Dr. Jan Adams -- who arrived late at the CNN studio due to airline delays -- told King's producers that he had received a letter from West's family. Adams said the family was asking him not to go on the air.
So, after the show had begun, Adams came on to the set -- to say he would not be doing the show.
"I'm going to respect their wishes," Adams told King. "And I'm going to apologize to you, because I think I'm taking up your airtime, but I will not be on the show."
And then Adams pulled out his earpiece, disconnected his microphone and stood up.
King recalled the moment he realized his guest was walking off.
"I was thinking, 'This isn't happening ... I see it, but I don't believe it,' " King said.

Michael Vick turned himself in to authorities on Monday to get a head start on serving his sentence for running a dogfighting ring, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
The Atlanta Falcons quarterback is scheduled to be sentenced on December 10 on a federal conspiracy charge of bankrolling the dogfighting operation.
Vick, 27, voluntarily turned himself in around noon, said Kevin Trevillan of the Marshals Service, and is being held at Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw, Virginia, until the sentencing hearing.
The quarterback, who has been suspended indefinitely by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, faces 12 to 18 months in prison on the charge.
Vick pleaded guilty in August after three associates admitted their own roles in the operation and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors.
"From the beginning, Mr. Vick has accepted responsibility for his actions and his self-surrender further demonstrates that acceptance," Vick's attorney, Billy Martin, said in a statement.

Set against the backdrop of New York City’s infamous Queensbridge Housing Projects, The Vapors tells the story of Marley Marl, Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Roxanne Shanté and the Legendary hip hop group “The Juice Crew”. Clifton Powell (Ray) has also been cast to play hip hop DJ and radio host Mr. Magic.
“The Vapors” will begin filming in January 2008. Furqaan Clover (Queen of Media: The Wendy Williams Story) is set to direct. Marley Marl and Big Daddy Kane are executive producers on the film while the producing companies are Guardian Entertainment in association with Furqaan Films.Palmer is also a singer, having signed a record deal with Atlantic Records.

Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.
Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.
One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.
"Gimme a break," said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids.

The plastic surgeon who reportedly operated on Kanye West's mother before she died faced two malpractice suits that ended in payouts and was arrested twice for driving under the influence, according to state records obtained Tuesday.
The Medical Board of California is investigating whether the license of Dr. Jan Adams should be revoked or suspended after he was arrested twice in the past four years for alcohol-related offenses, records show.
Donda West, 58, died Saturday at Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center in Marina del Rey after she stopped breathing at her home. The coroner's office said an initial investigation shows West may have died from surgical complications. An autopsy was scheduled to be done by Wednesday.
Adams told the celebrity Web site TMZ that he performed a tummy tuck and breast reduction on but denied any wrongdoing. He said she might have died from a heart attack, pulmonary embolism or massive vomiting.
Earlier this year, David Thornton, the state medical board's executive director, filed a complaint with the state against Adams that included the arrests.
In a 2006 case, Adams was found guilty of driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or greater, and he pleaded no contest in 2003 to driving under the influence, according to the medical records.
They also indicate that in 2001, two malpractice lawsuits against Adams ended in payouts of $217,337 and $250,000. Further details were not disclosed.

KANYE WEST'S MOTHER DONDA WEST DIES
Donda West, the mother and onetime manager of rapper Kanye West, died Saturday in Los Angeles.
A spokesperson for the family had no other details at this time.
West, 58, a retired professor and former chairwoman of the Chicago State University English department, was a tireless supporter of her son as he both earned success and stirred up controversy.
"Kanye likes to think as a hobby and speak his own mind. He was always like that," Donda West told InStyle earlier this year. "He came out of the womb looking like he had that attitude."
As CEO of West Brands LLC and co-founder of the Kanye West Foundation, she teamed with her son to develop a nonprofit that aimed to combat the dropout problem in high schools in 2005. In May, she released the book Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Superstar.
Donda West raised her son as a single mother in the Chicago neighborhood of South Shore after divorcing his father Ray, a former Black Panther, when Kanye was 3.

TURNER BUYS CABLE RIGHTS TO TYLER PERRY'S "WHY DID I GET MARRIED"
Turner's TBS and TNT, which already have rights to Tyler Perry's "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" and "Madea's Family Reunion," will get another double dose of movies from the filmmaker in 2009 and 2010.
Variety is reporting that Lionsgate sold cable TV rights to Perry's "Why Did I Get Married?" and "Daddy's Little Girls" to the two Turner networks in a deal worth more than $12 million.

The star - born Lonnie Rashid Lynn Jr. - has garnered critical acclaim for his lyrical skills in his 15 years in the music industry, but has already made a name for himself as an actor in his short time on the big screen, with roles in movies like Smoking Aces and the newly-released American Gangster. But he is contemplating making the career change more permanent.
He tells Vibe magazine, "I need a new fulfillment as an artist. I feel like I can become a bigger actor than I am a rapper. It's scary thinking, 'Damn, if I don't sell no records, what am I going to do?' When you haven't made multi millions in this game, you got to think about what you want to be doing when you're 50 or 60. I found an art that I really love and it's infinite."

TREY SONGS ARRESTED...DANG!
Another day, another celebrity mug shot. R&B singer Trey Songz was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest late Saturday night following his show in Springfield, Mass.
According to TMZ.com, officers were called to the scene to investigate a shot fired in the parking lot after the concert. Police say the singer, born Tremaine Neverson, kept meddling with investigators at the crime scene and refused to leave when ordered.
Instead, he responded by asking the officers: "Don't you know who I am?" according to the Web site.
Handcuffs were slapped on the singer and he was reportedly taken into custody. Songz was scheduled to be arraigned Monday on both charges.
