ASHANTI TO HIT BROADWAY...

Ashanti is easing on the down the road to Broadway.
She has been cast in a limited Manhattan production of the 1974 Tony Winner"The Wiz".

The 28 year old singer and actress, will be playing Dorothy in the soulful remix version of The Wizard of Oz. Originally on Broadway, Stephanie Mills played Dorothy and on screen it was Diana Ross.

The summer production will run from June 12th to July 5th @ the New York City Center, as part of the Encores! Summer Stars series.

Ashanti is not a stranger to the role of Dorothy. She played her in the 2005 movie "Muppets' Wizard of Oz"

Jay-Z performed with Kelli Clarkson @ The University of Arizona and this is what he had to say about the experience....

Last night I performed at the University of Arizona, I had a ball!! Through all the excitement and joking around (as well as the technical difficulties) I missed out on the opportunity to say something important..

On the show as well were Third Eye Blind and Kelly Clarkson.. I thought that to be the oddest pairing EVER but, soon realized, it's what I've always professed..There is NO such thing as BLACK music or WHITE music only GOOD or BAD music..It's stupid cool to like things that are not like you, and that goes for outside of music.. If you're an African American you can have a jewish friend. Wait, does Lyor having some Israeli mixed with his jewish count? (Sure they are paranoid but, so are black people after they've smoked weed, haaaaa, and plus the JEW fro and the BLUEprint fro are the SAME thing.)

I think concerts like this should happen more often. ( Outside of the one or 2 festivals a year or "Zootopia") I'm putting that into the universe..next up Taylor Swift and Uncle Murda!!

CHARMED SCHOOL WITH RICKI LAKE

The next semester of Charm School is almost here. The reality show premieres on VH1 on May 11, 2009 @ 9PM. Ricki Lake will be the new host of the show. Ricki Lake will also be joined by new Charm School deans Alani “La La” Vazquez (MTV personality and producer of the new Sony Classic documentary TYSON) and Stryker (Radio personality). What is going to make this show interesting to me is to see the girls from Real Chance of Love. They are Baybaybay, Bubbles, Kiki, K.O., Risky, and So Hood. I cant wait to check this out. Oh the rest of the girls are from Brett Michaels Rock of Love Bus.

Rihanna will get jewelry back..

Rihanna will get back $1.4 million in borrowed jewelry she was wearing the night she was allegedly beaten by Chris Brown.

Prosecutors agreed to have the jewelry photographed for evidence if it is needed at a trial. The 21-year-old singer's attorney had requested a judge's order for the items' return, but an agreement was reached Wednesday morning.

Donald Etra said after the hearing that it will allow Rihanna to return the items to companies that lent them to her. She wore the jewelry, described as a pair of earrings and three rings, to a pre-Grammy party.

"Rihanna just wants the owners to get their goods back," Etra said.

TYRA testifies @ stalker trial

Supermodel Tyra Banks says she feared for her safety when she learned that her accused stalker had entered the Manhattan building where she tapes her TV show.

Banks testified Wednesday at the New York trial of Brady Green. The man from Dublin, Ga., is charged with stalking her from coast to coast.

Banks says she also feared for the safety of her staff, her family and anyone else who is with her.

Defense lawyer Sydney O'Hagen says her 38-year-old client is just an overzealous fan. She says Green simply answered Banks' Web site invitation for fans to reach out to her.

Green was arrested near the studio where the "Tyra Banks Show" is taped. He's charged with stalking, harassment and criminal trespass.

Maxwell finally had a album listening party yesterday at the Sony Club in New York. He announced that the release of the album will be 7.7.2009. I'm so glad he is finally coming out. Do you know how long I have been waiting on him to come out with daggone album.
The album is due to be part of a trilogy. The second and third parts are supposed to be released in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

When asked what kind of reception he expected for the album, he said:

"I try not to live by expectations.

"If you just do it with love, the rest will be taken care of."

TYRA BANKS TO TESTIFY IN STALKER CASE

Tyra Banks is expected to take the stand this week as a hulking drifter goes on trial for stalking the TV personality.

No one disputes that Brady Green tried to get close to the famous supermodel-turned-talk-show host, but his lawyer says he's just a fan.

"She invites fans that are inspired by her show to reach out to her," defense lawyer Sydney O'Hagen said in opening arguments at Green's trial. "Mr. Green was a fan, albeit perhaps an overzealous fan."

Besides sending unwanted flowers and love letters to Banks and ignoring orders from police to stay away from the show, Green threatened to kill an employee who refused to give him the Chelsea address of the show's studio.

"You're f--ing lying, I'm going to find you and slit your throat," Green, 39, screamed into the telephone, prosecutors charge.

The stalking and harassment case, being heard by a judge because it's a low-level misdemeanor, is resuming after a nine-day break. Green faces 90 days in jail if convicted.

Banks, who told cops she did not know Green and was terrified by his escalating outreach, is expected to take the stand Wednesday.

Calls to the star's publicist were not returned.
